Propellor Plant aka Crassula falcata

August 21, 2013

Look what’s blooming in my yard!   The Propellor Plant, aka Red Crassula, Airplane Plant, Scarlet Paintbrush, Keiserskroon, or the scientific Crassula perfoliata subsp. falcata.

Propellor PlantMine blooms every August.

Propellor PlantThe flower beds are such a pretty pinkish-orange color.

Propellor PlantThe blooming flowers are tiny but spectacular.   The plant is drought tolerant, and attractive to bees, birds and butterflies.  It’s an eye-catcher out by the sidewalk.

Right after seeing this I happened to notice one of these plants blooming in a neighbor’s yard! Thanks!

This is one of my favourite plants. Grows in South Australia. Sorry not sure month which it blooms but the sad part is that it does not stay in bloom for long enough. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see your specimen.

Hi Sandra, You’re right, it doesn’t bloom long enough, but at least it’s very predictable! Thanks for reading…. Leslie
