Aloes in Bloom!

by Leslie Crawford on January 20, 2009Thank you

One of the bright spots in winter are the aloes that bloom in Southern California. This grouping are half a block from the beach in Coronado. Spectacular!

Record Temperatures in San Diego

by Leslie Crawford on January 19, 2009Thank you

According to records dating to 1850, 81 degrees is the highest January temperature recorded in San Diego. Well, Coronado surpassed that yesterday with a temperature of 86 degrees!!! The only other temperature that recorded higher than that was Escondido at 88 degrees.

As far as the garden goes, water early in the day so all the water can dry off foliage before things cool off in the afternoon. We’re supposed to get rain on Thursday (promises, promises!) but a good deep soaking is not a bad idea because the weather has been so dry and warm. My garden is confused!
