Molly’s kids are starting to look like…….well , something. Kids grow up so fast, don’t they? There is so much fluff in the box, it makes me want to sneeze! Happy belated Mother’s Day!

Have you seen Molly the Owl yet? She’s a barn owl living in San Marcos, taking care of her eggs. The first one just hatched. This live webcam is fascinating to watch!
Friends invited me over to see their doves nest. Two babies are getting ready to fly, but they are still looking pretty scrawny.
Another friend has a hummingbird nest in her yard. The mother bird seemed smaller than the hummers I see in my yard, but maybe she was young.
She layed three eggs so that was quite an accomplishment. Those little eggs are the size of a Tic-Tac. Teeny little things.

I spend a lot of time out in the yard, but I don’t sit and relax out there enough. Yesterday I needed a break from my computer so I took a little chair and went out to the garden. It was a treat to sit out there and just listen to the sounds of the day. It was sunny with a cool breeze, and felt like spring. I think the birds felt it, too. I saw lots of different kinds including sparrows, finches, crows, doves and even a hawk. I could hear hummingbirds up in the pepper tree. The bird feeder was busy with little finches who were feasting on the black sunflower seeds I’ve been stocking out there.

I’ve had a very cute little bird coming to the garden for the last couple of weeks to eat bugs off my stock. I haven’t been able to identify what kind of bird it is, but I’m assuming it is migratory because I’ve never seen one like it before. This little bird flits around quickly in its quest for food, but it is very brave and let’s me get quite near most of the time. I’ve been stalking it for a picture and finally succeeded.

My freesia and stock are very close to blooming so I’m looking forward to that fragrance explosion! There is good energy in the garden. I need to sit out there and be an observer more often. It’s very enlightening!
